When someone writes an in-depth article about something they haven't researched properly, it is probably a load of nonsense. In German, you could describe the work as "Mumpitz," which means just that: nonsense. The word is believed to stem from the words "Mummelputz" and "Mombotz," which were imaginary beings whose role was to frighten people. It later evolved to mean rumors or talking drivel. These days, you know you're not being taken seriously when your conversation partner exclaims "Mumpitz!"
