Hamburg Says Mzoudi Can't Study at University
September 6, 2004The Hamburg Interior Ministry ruled on Monday that Abdelghani Mzoudi, who was acquitted in February on charges of abetting the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, should not be allowed to resume his studies at a local university. The interior ministry has said it will revoke Mzoudi's residence permit as soon as his legal actions in Germany are completed because of evidence that he was involved with a terrorist organization and that he will not be allowed to study during that time. The decision effectively overrules a recent court decision calling on the university to allow Mzoudi to resume his studies. Hamburg is currently seeking to deport both Mzoudi and Mounir al Motassadeq, who is being retried right now on terrorism charges related to the Hamburg cell responsible for the attacks on Washington and New York.
