'Together for Africa' says the appetite for cheap goods among western consumers is unwittingly driving slavery. The problem is particularly acute in parts of Africa where slave laborers work in appalling conditions. Examples include the DR Congo.
Millions of people in Africa and beyond are abused as slaves, and Western consumers are complicit in their exploitation. Protest actions across Germany on Friday aimed to draw attention to their plight.
