Most teams around Europe kept their purse strings tight through the January transfer window. Some big names, however, have made moves over the last month, including to Germany's top flight – the Bundesliga.
Another English talent has arrived in the Bundesliga after Augsburg signed Reece Oxford on loan. Elsewhere, Shinji Kagawa has departed Borussia Dortmund for Besiktas in a loan deal that runs until the end of the season.
This was supposed to be the game that saw Bayern Munich move to the edge of glory. Instead, they had to settle for a point in Nuremberg after a pulsating contest - but it could have been much worse for the champions.
With Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery set to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season, replacements are needed in Bavaria. Nothing comes cheap in today's market, but Bayern must be prepared to flash the cash.
Top clubs can, in essence, be made to contribute to the costs of policing high-profile Bundesliga matches, a German court has found. Who should pay for individual troublemakers, however, remains unresolved.
