Mozambique's largest wildlife park is struggling with an increase in illegal hunting. The park has now launched a determined battle to protect its wildlife. Recently it's brought in six new rangers - all of them women.
At least five park rangers have been killed by armed men in the famed wildlife park in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Virunga is home to critically endangered mountain gorillas, which have been targeted by poachers.
The population of mountain gorillas, which survive on the forest-cloaked volcanoes of central Africa, has increased by a quarter to over 1,000 individuals since 2010, wildlife authorities said.
