The role of exercise has become increasingly important in Europe. More and more people play sports and want to stay fit, in part to ensure they live long healthy lives. This year two major sporting events are also contributing to the exercise bug: the Euro 2012 football championships in Poland and Ukraine, and the Olympic Games in London. In a special show from London, European Journal looks at the additional challenges facing athletes in cash-strapped Greece, and the impact of Euro 2012 on Ukraine. We also learn how sporting events can be protected from online betting rings, and how non-professionals are using sports to push themselves to the limit.
