German energy company EON aims to build a large nuclear power plant in Hungary in the course of its eastern European expansion plans. Hungarian newspapers reported that the firm intends to invest half a billion euros in the reactor near the city of Mohacz on the Danube River. Düsseldorf-based EON has already been active on the Hungarian market for years and, along with the local companies Titasz, Edasz and Dedasz, provides a large share of the country's electricity. Last year, EON also got involved in the Hungarian natural gas business.
