Tax Havens - Held Hostage - EU proposes €1.3 trillion budget
After agreeing on the terms of a new Brexit deal, EU leaders have turned their focus to other pressing issues, including climate change and the bloc's next budget. The talks are expected to be highly divisive.
Johnson sent a trio of letters to the EU: One unsigned requesting a Brexit extension, a copy of the law requiring him to request the extension and one arguing against an extension. The EU is now considering his request.
Campaigners think German firms should be accountable for the human rights abuses committed along their supply chains. Some businesses say it's too difficult to police, but others would welcome a "level playing field."
German businesses have already been suffering from the negative effects of Brexit, said Holger Bingmann, head of the foreign trade industry group BGA, pointing out losses to German exporters worth €3.5 billion this year.
