Yi scored a total of 502.9, failing to reach her own world record by 2.7 rings. Bogacka, who had looked like the winner until the sixth and eighth rounds, scored 502.2. Yu racked up 501.5, relegating defending champion Katarina Emmons of the Czech Republic to fourth with 500.3.

The top-ranked Chinese woman shooter, Yi, 23, will be able to add her new medal to the gold she won at the 2010 World Championships in Munich.

Germany's Jessica Mager and Beate Gauss placed 20th and 32nd respectively, excluding them for the final of the best eight.
