The Africa Cup of Nations for Amputee Football is taking place in Angola. Because not many of us watch disabled sports, it's very difficult for athletes to get funding. In fact, team Cameroon almost didn't make it to the tournament.
After Mauritania and Angola played out the first goalless draw of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, Cameroon and Ghana, as well as Benin and Guinea Bissau followed suit. Groups E and F are both wide open as a result.
Ghana held their nerve to beat Guinnea-Bissau to top Group F. But there was disappointment for holders Cameroon, who were held by draw-specialists Benin. Tunisia drew again, but still made the knockout rounds.
With the quarterfinals of the Africa Cup of Nations set to get underway, Benin are gearing up for Wednesday's match against Senegal. Benin have come a long way since the AFCON debacle of 2010.
Cameroon is finding it difficult to meet its financial commitments as the battle against armed separatists and corruption depletes the country's resources.
