Karen Kesawathany Arukesamy is a journalist at The Sun in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She was awarded a prestigious Asian Journalism Fellowship in 2013. During the three-month period of the fellowship she has been researching how the media in Asia portray vulnerable communities. In 2012 she represented the Malaysian National Union of Journalists at the 4th Bali Media Forum. She took part in the SIGNIS World Congress in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in 2009 and has been a member of SIGNIS Malaysia since 2011. She graduated with a BA in Journalism from Tunku Abdul Rahman University in 2008.
