Yıkıntıların ortasındaki piyanist
Suriyeli genç piyanist Eyhem Ahmed Şam yakınlarındaki Yermuk Mülteci Kampı'nda yıkıntılar arasında piyano çalmasıyla hafızalara kazındı. Müziği açlıktan ağlayan çocuklara ve çaresizlik içindeki kamp halkına umut verdi.
Ölüme onurlu karşılama
Suriye'deki savaşın ortasında Eyhem Ahmed, oğlunun açlıktan ağladığına tanık olduğunda kaçınılmaz gördüğü ölüme onurlu bir karşılaşma yapmak istiyor. Piyanosunu çıkarıp sokağın ortasına kuruyor ve başkent Şam'daki Yermuk Mülteci Kampı'nın yıkıntıları arasında çalmaya başlıyor: Nefret, şiddet ve açlığa karşı! Ahmed, YouTube üzerinden yayılan videolarıyla küresel çapta tanınan bir piyanist oluyor.
Yermuk'un açlıkla imtihanı
Şam yakınlarında Filistinli mültecilerin kaldığı Yermuk Mülteci Kampı, Suriye'deki iç savaşın en trajik sahnelerine ev sahipliği yapan yerlerden biri oldu. Kamp 2013'te Şam rejimi tarafından abluka altına alındı. Suriye Devlet Başkanı Beşar Esad'ın stratejisi; buradakileri, muhaliflerle bağlarını koparıp kaçana dek aç bırakmaktı. Kaçanların çoğu ise yakalandı.
Cehennem
Terör örgütü IŞİD 2015'in Nisan ayında kampa saldırınca da Yermuk Kampı'nda yaşayan 150 bin mülteciden geriye sadece 18 bin kişi kaldı. Ancak açlık, her türlü ihtiyacın yetersizliği, top atışları, varil bombaları ve infazlar, kalanların da hayatını cehenneme çevirdi.
Çaresizlik içindeki müzik
Bu döneme dek kamptakiler iki yıl abluka altında tüm dünyadan kopuk yaşadı. Eyhem Ahmed, insanların çaresizlikten kedi, köpek ve ot yiyerek hayatta kalmaya çalıştığını anlatıyor. Ahmed de ot yediğini ancak hiçbir zaman köpek yemediğini sözlerine ekliyor. İşte bu çaresizliğin içinde ölüm kalım savaşı veren Ahmed, sokağa taşıdığı piyanosu ile kamptakilere biraz olsun umut vermeyi başarıyor.
Suriye'nin elçisi
Kamptan kaçarak Türkiye üzerinden Almanya'ya gelen Ahmed, Suriye'nin bir müzik elçisi oldu. Almanya'da düzenlenen konserlerde insanların dikkatini ülkesinde yaşananlara çevirdi ve müziğinin yoğun duygusal gücü izleyicilerin kalbini sızlattı. Kısa sürede Stiller gibi ünlü Alman sanatçılarla aynı sahneyi paylaşmaya başladı.
İnsan hakları ödülü
Eyhem Ahmed, 2015'te insan hakları, barış, özgürlük, yoksullukla mücadele için ilk kez verilen Uluslararası Beethoven Ödülü'nün sahibi oldu. Bu ödülün ortaya çıkmasına Ludwig van Beethoven şu sözleri esin kaynağı oldu: "Yapabileceğin her yerde iyilik yap, özgürlüğü her şeyden çok sev".
Müzikte Almanya ve Suriye harmonisi
Eyhem Ahmed, Alman piyanist Edgar Knecht ile kendine bir müzik yoldaşı buldu. Ahmed piyanist dostu için "Edgar müziğimi tıpkı benim hissettiğim şekilde çalışıyor" diyor. Ahmed ve Edgar Knecht Trio, beraber verdikleri birçok konserin ardından 2017'nin Ekim ayında "Keys to Friendship" (Arkadaşlığın Anahtarları) adlı ortak bir albüm çıkardı.
Kuşlar yeniden ötmeye başlayacak
Eyhem Ahmed'in 2017'de ayrıca otobiyografik bir eseri de yayımlandı. Kitabında çocukluğu, savaş ve kaçışını anlatıyor. Kitabına verdiği isimle de Yermuk Kampı'nda neredeyse kuş bile kalmamış olmasına atıfta bulunuyor. Çünkü kuşlar ya açlık içindeki çaresiz insanlar tarafından avlanmış ya da bombalardan kaçıp gitmişlerdi. Ahmed "Ama bir gün barış gelecek ve kuşlar yeniden ötmeye başlayacak" diyor.
