Programme Information Cash for work programme in the village of Gobro, Departement of Tibiri, region of Dosso, 1000 km east from Niamey The project is run in partnership with World Food Programme and Oxfam's partner NGO Mooriben. In exchange for cash (1000 XOF per day), beneficiaries are investing in the recuperation of land for agriculture. Schemes providing cash in exchange for work on community projects are one way Oxfam and partners keep food accessible for the most vulnerable while helping to protect markets. Oxfam invests in 'cash-for-work' projects and other cash initiatives, so that people have access to food on markets and markets are not distorted by food aid. In Niger, even in time of food shortage, the issue is more often related to access to food because of deep poverty and lack of financial resources or high prices, rather than to the unavailability of food on the market. In response to the current crisis, Oxfam and its partners are planning to help 450,000 people with vital aid such as food, cash, support to livestock, water, sanitation and hygiene promotion campaigns. In total, more than million people are facing a severe risk of food crisis in Niger. Specifically, in response to the influx of 30,000+ people from Mali, Oxfam and its partners are working to respond to the needs of refugees and host communities in the following sectors: food security, water, hygiene and sanitation, education and protection against gender-based violence. --------- Oxfam-Einverständniserklärung zugeliefert von Anne Le Touzé
