Estatuas vivientes
Una vez por año, el movimiento del mundo se detiene: los mejores artistas estáticos se reúnen en Arhem, Alemania, para celebrar el Festival Mundial de las Estatuas.
¡No te muevas!
La Tierra pareció detener su movimiento cuando dio inicio la 9ª edición del Festival Mundial de las Estatuas, que se celebra todos los años en Arhem, Holanda. John Hoogenboom, de 61 años, es uno de los cientos de participantes. En la foto se le dan los toques finales antes de transformarlo en una estatua viviente.
Don Quijote
Don Quijote, protagonizado por Jan Eissens, se prepara para luchar contra molinos de viento y encantar a los espectadores en las calles de Arhem. Fue necesario trabajar más de una hora detrás de bambalinas para que Eissens quedara como se lo ve en la foto.
Hombre de piedra
Todo Don Quijote necesita un Sancho Panza. Frits Ehkelkamp es el compañero de Jan Eissens, y en su performance alterna la quietud completa con un repentino salto a la vida cuando un espectador lanza una moneda en su sombrero. Compitiendo en la categoría Profesionales del Festival Mundial de Estatuas, ya ganaron el Premio del Público y otro de 500 euros.
Muestra de fuerza
Aaron Ziobrowski, de EE. UU., demostró ser la estatua más fornida de la competición de este año en Arhem. Con cada moneda que recibía hacía movimientos con sus bíceps. Pero cuando trató de levantar pesas, falló, lo que provocó las risas de la gente.
"Don't worry, be happy"
Krist Doo, un artista callejero professional de Holanda, fue otra de las casi 150 estatuas vivientes que participaron este año en el festival. Llama a su personaje “De Contente Mens”: el hombre contento.
La fascinación de mirar
El nombre profesional de Andy Train, de Reino Unido, es “El hombre de oro”, y eso por motivos obvios. En su país, actúa sentado sobre un banco de plaza con su gaviota y su plato de pescado y papas fritas. Cuando la gente le pregunta de dónde sacó su personaje, dice: “No hay cosa que me guste más que estar sentado en un café, sobre la acera, y mirar a la gente, al mundo pasar”.
Dúo artístico
Helena Reis (dcha.), de Portugal, actúa como estatua viviente desde 1999. Samuel Buton, de Francia, toca el acordeón al despertar a la vida, y hace solo seis meses que comenzó en el arte de ser una estatua viviente.
El arte de la quietud
Helena Reis, de Porto, posa congelada hasta que una moneda es colocada en su taza. Hace 14 años que despliega el arte de las estatuas vivientes.
Una mezcla interesante
Con más de 150 estatuas, el Festival Mundial de Estatuas de Arhem de este año presenta personajes que van desde figuras serias hasta graciosas. La estatua titulada “El pensador” cabe, por supuesto, en la primera de ellas.
El ganador
John Eicke es un artista callejero profesional de Berlín. Su personaje, “Blanko, John Man”, ganó el Festival Mundial de Estatuas en 2013. Comenzó a competir de blanco, pero terminó pintado con colores que elegían sus espectadores para decorarlo. Eicke ya había ganado el certamen en 2010.
