Pilots in Germany have been refusing to participate in the controversial return of refugees to Afghanistan. Over 220 planned flights have been stopped by pilots. Berlin considers Afghanistan a ‘safe country of origin’ but its decision to send rejected asylum seekers back there has sparked major debate among politicians as well as the public.
