在朝鲜拒绝就朝韩开城共同工业园区前途进行谈判后,韩国政府要求仍在该工业园区的韩国公民立即离开当地。韩国统一部长官柳吉在今天(4月26日)在首尔表示,所有还在开城的韩国公民应离开朝鲜。曾被视为朝韩合作的象征的开城工业园区占地6400公顷,距朝韩边界仅10公里,2005年正式投入运营,是朝鲜获得外汇的少数重要渠道之一。在朝鲜半岛紧张局势加剧的背景下,本月初,朝鲜封锁了该工业园区,并撤出了全部5.3万名朝方雇员。
