Jena (Thüringen): Die frisch implantierte Niere wird vom Blut des Empfängers durchströmt. Damit steht die dreistündige Nierentransplantation in der Jenaer Klinik für Urologie der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität kurz vor ihrem erfolgreichen Abschluß. Das Organ war von der Stiftung "Eurotransplant" (Niederlande) für die Operation zugeteilt worden. Die durchschnittliche Funktion eines solchen Transplantates liegt bei acht Jahren, sie kann in Einzelfällen jedoch bei über 30 jahren liegen. In Jena war 1990 die erste Nierentransplantation vorgenommen worden, allein in diesem Jahr sollen an der Klinik erstmals über 100 solcher Operationen vorgenommen werden. Von 1200 Thüringer Dialysepatienten stehen derzeit 300 auf der Warteliste für eine Organtransplantation. Dabei habe sich die Wartezeit von durchschnittlich drei auf knapp zwei Jahre verkürzt.
