Lübnan’da hayvan ticaretiyle mücadele
Hükümet krizleri, ekonomik durgunluk ve kültürel normlar Lübnan’daki hayvanat bahçelerinin hayvan ticareti yapmasına zemin hazırlıyor. “Animals Lebanon“ adlı örgüt şimdi buna karşı mücadele veriyor.
Zenginlerin oyuncağı
Lübnan hayvanat bahçelerinde dehşet verici şartlar altında ve akıbetlerine önem verilmeden hayvan yetiştiriliyor. Ülkenin zenginleri aslan, kaplan ya da çita gibi yırtıcılara çok para ödüyor. Nüfusun geri kalanının hayvanat bahçesine giriş ücreti verecek kadar bile parası yok.
Hayvanlar için
“Animals Lebanon“ adlı hayvan koruma örgütünün başkanı Jason Mier, “Hayvanların çoğu hayvanat bahçelerinden satın alınıyor. Bu yüzden buralara yoğunlaştık“ diyor. Mier, “Bir hayvanat bahçesi hayvanları satamaz. İşte bunun için bu illegal ticareti durdurmak adına yeni bir yasa çıkarıldı“ diye de ekliyor.
Trajik hikaye
Kötü muamele gören ve yetersiz beslenen aslan Queen, “Animals Lebanon“ tarafından kurtarıldı. Yoğun bakıma alınmasına rağmen veterinerlerin artık onun için yapabilecek birşeyi kalmamıştı. Uyutulmak zorunda kaldı. Bu üzücü olay sonrası hayvan hakları savunucularınca bir kampanya başlatıldı. “Hayvanat bahçesinden alınıp özel şahıslara verilen hiçbir aslan iki yıldan fazla yaşayamaz“ deniyor.
Para sıkıntısı
Lübnan’daki çoğu hayvanat bahçesinde durum içler acısı. Hayvanlar çoğunlukla dehşet verici koşullarda yaşamak zorunda. "Animals Lebanon", “Yiyecek yok, su yok, gölge yok“ diyor. Finansal zorluk iki aslan ve bir kaplanın yaşadığı “ZaZoo City“ adlı bu hayvanat bahçesinde bile açıkça görülüyor.
Hayvan ticareti kazançlı bir çözüm
Bir hayvanat bahçesinde ördek ve kazlar için bile su yoksa yırtıcı hayvanların bakımının nasıl yapılacağı büyük bir sorundur. Hayvan hakları koruyucuları hayvanat bahçesi sahiplerinin ekonomik sıkıntıyı gidermek için artık bilet satışlarından elde edilecek parayla ilgilenmiyor. Hayvan ticareti karlı görülüyor. Bir aslan 10 bin euroya satılıyor.
Denetim eksikliği
Tabii ki tüm hayvanat bahçelerinde hayvanlara kötü muamele edilmiyor. Ancak bir hayvanat bahçesinin durumu ülkedeki hükümet sorunlarıyla da ilgili. Örneğin Gazze’de yıllarca savaş ve ablukaya maruz kalan “dünyanın en kötü hayvanat bahçesi“ boşaltıldı. O hayvanlar arasında fotoğraftaki kaplan Laziz de vardı.
Lübnan hükümetinden önlem
Bir televizyon şovu için kullanılmak istenen bu aslan yavrusu kurtarıldı. Hayvanat bahçeleri hayvanlarını genellikle özel şahıslara satıyor. Bu artık son bulacak. Lübnan Tarım Bakanı'nın açıklaması şöyle: “Yasadışı ticareti yapılan ve dükkanlarda satılan tüm hayvanlara el koyulacak. Bu hayvanlar bir kafeste ya da güç ve zenginliğin sembolü olarak evlerde tutulamaz“.
Çocuklar için oyun arkadaşı
Varlıklı anne babalar genellikle çocuklarına oyun arkadaşı olarak aslan yavrusu alıyor, aslan büyüdüğünde ne olacağını düşünmeden. Çocuklar aslanlarla çekilmiş resimlerini okuldaki arkadaşlarına gösteriyor. O kişilerin evinde aslan beslediğini öğrenenler ise bunu “Animals Lebanon“a ihbar ediyor.
Hoşgörülü yaklaşım
“Animals Lebanon“un kendi sistemini uygulaması için genellikle o hayvanat bahçesine Lübnan hükümetinden emir geliyor. Mier bu hoşgörülü yaklaşımın uzun vadede başarılı olacağı görüşünde. AB finansal destek sağlıyor. Bu bağlamda Avrupa’daki hayvanat bahçesinden uzmanlar da Lübnan’a giderek buradaki meslektaşlarını destekliyor. © Deutsche Welle Türkçe
