Etiyopya'nın kahve ekonomisi
Etiyopya’nın başkenti Addis Ababa’da içilen sabah kahvesi bile ekonomik gelişmeye katkıda bulunuyor. Kadınlar kahve satarak geçimlerini sağlayabiliyor. Kahve pazarında tam bir hiyerarşi hakim.
Seyyar kahveci
Addis Ababa’daki günlük kahve işinde bir hiyerarşi var. En altta elinde kahve termosu, fincan ve fincan altlıklarıyla sokaklarda satış yapan kadınlar yer alıyor. Bir fincan kahve 3 Birr yani yaklaşık 12 Eurocent. Kahveci Liya iyi satış yaptığı bir günde 40 Birr kazandığını ve işinden memnun olduğunu söylüyor.
Daha iyi bir yaşam mücadelesi
Aster Endale tüm gün yakıcı güneşin altında sokaklarda olmaktan dert yanıyor. Endale, kahve hiyerarşisinde bir üst seviyede olmak ve bir restaurant ya da barın önünde ‘jebena buna’ adlı geleneksel kahve tezgahında çalışmak istiyor. 18 yaşındaki Etiyopyalı “herkes daha iyi bir yaşam için çabalar” diyor.
Güler yüzlü servis
Bir bar önünde, jebene buna adlı tezgahta satış yapan 19 yaşındaki Eyerusalem Mesele “müşterilere nazik davrandığım ve geleneksel kahveye çok değer verdikleri için geliyorlar” diyor. Ayda 700 Birr yani yaklaşık 28 Euro kazanan Mesele günün birinde kendi standını açmak için para biriktirdiğini söylüyor.
Yurt dışında çalışma isteği
Bir otelin jebena buna tezgahında çalışan 21 yaşındaki Roza Melese,akrabalarının kendisini Kuveyt’e aldırtmaya çalıştıklarını anlatıyor. İşinden memnun, ayda 40 Euro kazanıyor. Melese bir gün, ülkesinde daha büyük bir iş yeri açabilmek için Kuveyt’te daha fazla para kazanabilmeyi umuyor.
Kendi otelini açma hayali
Roza Melese, geleneğe uygun olarak bir kolu sabit şekilde kahve dolduruyor. Gerekli izinleri alabilirse Mayıs’ta dört yıllığına Kuveyt’e gidip, orada hizmetli olarak çalışacak. Genç kızın hayali bir gün kendi otelini açıp bir otomobile sahip olabilmek.
Yeni içme alışkanlıkları
Kahve kavurma ve kahve evlerindeki artış, özellikle de meslek sahibi genç nüfus içinde yeni bir içme kültürü oluştuğunu gösteriyor. Alem Bunna kafesinin pazarlama sorumlusu Getachew Woldetsadick “Onların bir saat boyunca evlerinde oturup kahvenin kavrulmasını bekleyecek kadar zamanları yok” diyor. Woldetsadik de Doğu Afrika, Avrupa ve Asya pazarlarına açılmak istiyor.
Gelenek ihracatı
Hiyerarşinin en üst sırasında Tomoca gibi kahvehaneler yer alıyor. 1953’ten beri taze kavrulmuş kahve çekirdekleri kokusu müşterileri buraya çekiyor. Kahvehane sahibi Wondwossen Meshesha “Şimdi tarihimizi paraya çevirmek için en uygun zaman” diyor. İş adamının planı kahveyi diğer Doğu Afrika ülkelerinin yanı sıra Avrupa ve Asya’ya satmak.
Batı etkisi
Kaldi’s Cafe, Addis Ababa’nın en şık caddelerinde biri olan Bole Road’da yer alıyor. Burayı daha çok yabancılar ve genç Etiyopyalılar tercih ediyor. Kafe’nin yeşil-beyaz logosu ABD’li Starbucks’tan esinlenilmiş.
Kaybedecek zaman yok
Aster Endale fincanlarını yıkadıktan sonra hızla yeniden yollara düşüyor. Onun için kaybettiği her dakika daha az kahve satmak ve daha az para kazanmak anlamına geliyor. Aster’in bir jebena buna kiralamak için henüz yeterli parası yok. © Deutsche Welle Türkçe
