The Indian-controlled Kashmir region has been in turmoil since protests broke out over the death of a popular young rebel leader who died in a gunfight with security forces in July. Bloody clashes have now spread to rural pockets of the Kashmir valley. More than 60 civilians have been killed and thousands more have been injured in the worst violence since 2010.
