Germany strongly supports the United States and the anti-Islamic State alliance, German Defense Minister Ursula von der Leyen told DW-TV. "We are committed to stay the course for as long as necessary," she said.
UN experts say the "Islamic State" is still capable of sending funds to supporters and motivating global attacks. "Europe remained a priority region" for IS attacks, they said, despite developments in Iraq and Syria.
Interpol has received an apparent list of 173 potential suicide bombers for the Islamic State - which includes the name of one German. The list was reportedly recovered by Iraqi troops during the battle for Mosul.

A 29-year-old suspected member of the Islamic State has been taken into custody by German authorities. He is accused of killing a man in Syria for "blasphemy" and leaving his body on display.
