The decision was a tight one. The judges awarded the video by Denys Kushnarov first place by a very narrow margin. Our viewer lives in Kiev in Ukraine. He takes us to the Pechersk Lavra Cave Monastery in the heart of the city, one of seven World Heritage Sites in Ukraine.
Since its foundation in the 11th century by Anthony, an Orthodox monk from Esphigmenon monastery on Mount Athos, the Lavra has been a preeminent center of Eastern Orthodox Christianity in Eastern Europe.
The Cave Monastery together with the Saint Sophia Cathedral, was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1990.
