The foundation for Ulm Minster was laid in 1377 but the building was only completed 513 years later. It was not financed by the Church, however, or even by secular rulers but by local citizens. It houses several precious artworks, such as the 15th century choir stalls, the stained glass windows and a sculpture called the Man of Sorrows by Hans Multscher.
