There's been a huge turnout for Iran's presidential election

Ema Nevenka JülichJune 12, 2009

Iranian election officials say voting has been brisk in the country's presidential election on Friday. Some 46 million Iranians are eligible to cast their ballots. More than half of them are under the age of 30. Iranian state television predicted that polling stations would probably be kept open longer to assure that everyone has a chance to vote. Incumbent Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is facing a serious challenge from moderate candiate Mir Hossein Mousa-VEE, who says he wants to improve Iran's relations with the outside world. Initial results are expected on Saturday.
