The EU has unlocked €3 billion ($3.7 billion) for projects to help Syrian refugees in Turkey in a second payment from the 2016 migration deal. More than a million refugees have already benefited from the funds.
The EU has unlocked three billion euros for refugees in Turkey. It's the second tranche of a controversial 2016 deal to curb the flow of migrants coming to Europe. Keith Walker spoke with DW's Dorian Jones in Istanbul and started by asking him about the growing unease among some EU member states over being asked to pay 2 billion euros towards the EU funds.
A Syrian national had attempted to kill at least 200 people, prosecutors said. The suspect tried to "create a climate of fear and uncertainty" by detonating explosives "in the midst of a large concentration of people."
