Syrian media has accused Israel of bombing a military research center near Damascus. The allegations are causing furor within Syria and among its allies.
In a newly published report, the IMF said years of conflict have destroyed the economies of several countries in the Middle East. The organization said it could take years for countries to regain their footing.
UNICEF and other aid organizations are trying to help children go back to school. Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai has called on governments to do more, so that Syria will still have a future left when peace returns.
The United Nations has said it will keep working with charities in Syria. This after 70 relief groups said they plan to suspend ties with the UN due to its links to the Syrian government.
The Kurds have advanced to a position in which they may determine the future of the Middle East. But they are riven by historic rivalries and blocked by regional powers.
