A total of 12.000 people will participate in the Olympic torch relay leading up to the Rio summer Games. One of them is Ibrahim Al-Hussein, a Syrian swimmer and refugee. He has refused to let his disability destroy his dream of becoming an Olympian.
The 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro have officially been opened by Brazil's Acting President Michel Temer, amid protests and heightened security. Over 16 days, athletes from 206 nations will compete in 28 sports.
The official countdown to the Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro has begun with the lighting of the Olympic flame in Greece. This kicked off the torch relay leading up to the start of the Olympics in early August.
