The altercation took place on Sunday night on a regional train in Berlin. Authorities say the intoxicated tourist started the altercation by "verbally attacking and provoking" a German passenger in English, accusing him of being a terrorist.

The victim reportedly looked "Mediterranean."

A brawl broke out between the two men and a 37-year-old passenger attempted to break up the fight.

The Norwegian tourist then turned to the man and bit off a piece of the passenger's ear that was "several centimeters long," reported police.

Following the bite, several other passengers restrained the tourist until authorities arrived. The heavily bleeding 37-year-old man was taken to the hospital.

The 43-year-old tourist is being investigated for causing bodily harm, among other charges.
