A car bomb struck a police vehicle in Istanbul during rush hour on Tuesday, killing 11 people and wounding 36 others. The explosives placed inside a car detonated in Beyazit district as a police vehicle passed by.
Australian police also announced that two men have been charged with terror-related counts. The suspects had been planning a chemical gas attack in the aftermath of an aborted plan to bomb a plane leaving Australia.
Turkish special police forces killed five suspected Islamic State members during a raid in the central Konya province. Authorities were investigating an alleged IS plot to attack a commemoration event.
Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu has gone back on earlier remarks after initially saying Tuesday's blast in Diyarbakir was the result of an accident. A police officer and two civilians were killed.
