Angela Merkel will be officially appointed Germany's chancellor within the next couple of weeks, ending months of political uncertainty after September's general election. Merkel's fourth term was secured after the country's Social Democrats agreed to form a grand coalition government with Merkel's conservative Christian Democrats.
