Cemile Giousouf, first Muslim CDU member of the Bundestag, is against prohibiting campaign appearances by Turkish politicians in Germany. Yet she also fears that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan aims to establish an “arbitrary regime” in Turkey.

Germany's Foreign Ministry has said two more German citizens have been arrested in Turkey. At least 12 German nationals are currently in Turkish prisons for what Berlin says are political reasons.
