Northern Ireland is part of the UK and part of the EU. But not for long! Many farmers in Ireland and Northern Ireland fear the looming Brexit. Currently, milk trucks and animal transports are still rolling between the two states duty free.
The UK wants to leave not just the EU but also the customs union and single market. This is not compatible with their plans for a 'soft border' in Ireland, according to EU negotiator Michel Barnier.

London has pledged to avoid border posts between the EU-member Republic of Ireland and the UK country of Northern Ireland after Brexit. Questions still remain as to how Britain plans to police the "frictionless" border.
