Gegenwaertig werden in Lubmin etwa 1,5 Millionen Kubikmeter Stickstoff in die Nord-Stream-Gaspipeline zwischen Russland und Deutschland gepumpt. Stickstoff dient als Explosionsschutz bei der Erstbefuellung mit russischem Erdgas. Mit einer letzten Schweissnaht ist am Donnerstag der erste Strang der Nord-Stream-Gaspipeline zwischen Russland und Deutschland an das europaeische Fernleitungsnetz angeschlossen worden.
