After decades of a sluggish birthrate, Germany has announced the highest number of births per woman since 1973. The average number of children is now just over 1.5 — and it's rising. It's welcome news, but it has also been held up as a warning to ensure the infrastructure is in place to support these children. Columnist Tamsin Walker, no stranger to motherhood, has a cautionary tale of her own.
