Contrary to widespread stereotype, about half of all computer gamers today are female, and they have the self-confidence to stake out their territory in the gamer scene, both at the console and with the developers.

Female computer-game figures are all too often reduced to sex objects: scantily clad pretty young women. Some net feminists see these representations of women as perpetuating gender stereotypes and clichés and try to fight them. Katarina Kühn is head graphic artist for the browser game Truck Nation. Her figures are self-confident and sexy at the same time. She says strength and beauty are by no means mutually exclusive.
