Welcome to eco@africa

March 2, 2017

This week, we find out how to make wind energy with kites, explore how a German company is cashing in on e-waste and take a look at the threats Ethiopia's nomads are facing from climate change.

Join us this week on Eco@Africa for another collection of environmental stories from around Africa and Europe. We kick of this week's show in Ethiopia where Vets Without Borders is working with pastoralists to help save an ancient nomadic way of life threatened by climate change.

Then we take a trip to a remote Scottish island to fly a kite. Inventor Roderick Read has been working on a kite that produces wind energy and is hoping that parks full of electricity-producing kites will be a common sight in the future.

We visit Kenya's Tana River which is coming under serious pressure from hydropower plants and irrigation and go to Botswana where this week's Eco Hero is trying to revive the country's black and white rhino populations.

On an island in North Cyprus we talk to some people working to save endangered sea turtles with GPS and education. Finally, a German company explains how they're cashing in by recycling electronic waste.

Tune in for these stories and more.
