WeChat in Bavaria

Chinese tourists in Germany can now use the popular instant messaging service WeChat to book tables or excursions without having to speak a word of German.

The Chinese instant messaging service WeChat has 700 million users. Once they've provided their bank account information, the app can be used to pay bills and order goods and services. A German pilot project is now using the app to promote Bavaria. Chinese users can simply scan QR codes at hotels and sights to access information portals or booking sites.
