April 30, 2015

Israeli violinmaker Amnon Weinstein collects and restores violins with a special history - they once belonged to Jewish musicians, many of whom died in the Holocaust.

His aim is to bring the instruments back to life, make their stories known and hear them played again. His "Violins of Hope” have been played at memorial concerts in Jerusalem, Paris, Madrid, London and Rome. In January 2015, they were played by musicians at a concert in Berlin, the city where the Nazis devised the so-called Final Solution to systematically exterminate the Jews of Europe. The documentary charts the violins’ journey from Tel Aviv to Berlin.
