UNICEF helping civilians in Afghanistan

UNICEF's Chief of Field Operations in Afghanistan, Mustapha Ben Messaoud is concerened about the rising number of children and women discplaced by the conflict in the country. He explains why it's vital to make sure that access to medical services, education and food is ensured.

In the past few days alone, more than 20 Afghan children have died due to the conflict, and more than 500 have been killed since the beginning  of the year. Many women and children are being displaced by the ongoing violence, struggling to find safety. Alreaday, millions have been internally displaced after decades of conflict. As is the chief of field operations for UNICEF in Afghanistan, Mustapha Ben Messaoud travels across the country to organize help for the increasing number of those in need. He explains what people are going through and how UNICEF is operating despite mounting challenges.
