Ujah previews Carnival derby

DW: You've got a big game against Gladbach coming up on the weekend - it's a derby and a Carnival weekend - how are you feeling about it?

Anthony Ujah: It's a very big game and we want to continue our good form away from home. Also, it's a derby so it's very important for our fans and for our position on the table. We're going to try to play our game. It's going to be a very difficult game. They are a big team with good quality. But we will try to continue our good form away from home.

How are you feeling personally about your form in attack?

The last two games weren't the best, but I'm still learning and I still have a lot to learn. I'm just trying to improve myself, so I can represent the team and help us work towards our goals.

Are you happy with the season so far? You've scored a lot of goals. You must have been pleased with the way you're playing.

Yeah, I'm happy with the way it's going but I still have a lot to do and a lot to give to the team aswell. You can see from the [league] position from the middle down that it's very tight. A loss or a win can take you a long way or bring you down a lot way. For me, personally, I'm satisfied with my progress but like I said I still have a lot to learn and there's still a long way to go [in the season], so hopefully I can continue to improve.

What's your favorite thing about Carnival?

Driving around the city in the open bus on Shrove Monday. It's really fun to see the happiness in everyone's faces and how happy they are to have this experience every year. I'm looking forward to the festivities, but it will be even nicer if we can get a win on Saturday.

Anthony Ujah has scored six goals this season for Cologne, appearing in all but one of his team's Bundesliga games so far. The 24-year old has been with the club since transferring from Mainz in 2012. So far, he has played five times for his native Nigeria.
