When former child soldiers from the northern Uganda returned home, they faced aggressive reluctance. They only thing they knew was how to murder people in the bush. They had no chance in civil life.
After more than 20 years of fighting, the war between the Ugandan government and ex-rebels from the West Nile region ended in 2002. Today, former fighters look back on their reintegration into civil life.
The sexual attacks and beatings in South Sudan over the last 12 days have targeted women walking to collect food to take home to their families. Groups of men numbering up to 20 have been accused of the assaults.
