Ahead of Turkey's elections, the country's main opposition parties have united to prevent the reelection of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Pollsters say they have a realistic chance of succeeding.
Turkish authorities have arrested another German citizen according to media reports, this time for defaming Erdogan online. The suspect was arrested while on holiday and is not thought to hold Turkish citizenship.
Dundar believes that the Turkish president is looking for revenge on his critics. In an interview with DW in Berlin, the former editor of Cumhuriyet said there was almost no opposition voice left in the Turkish media.
After years of strained ties, Erdogan has said he wants to reset relations with Berlin during a pomp and circumstance-filled visit to Germany. But German and Turkish politicians aren't convinced it will lead to a change.
