For many who try to cross into the USA from Mexico, Tijuana becomes the ultimate end of their journey. Many from Latin America become trapped in the Mexican border town, unable to get into the USA and unable to return home.
Thousands of migrants have left Mexico City for a 2,800-kilometer route through areas known for cartel violence. Organizers said the route to Tijuana is less dangerous than heading straight to the closest US entryway.
