India's GDP has risen considerably in recent years. But economic growth goes hand in hand with a rise in greenhouse gases. The industrial sector emits some 280 million tonnes of CO2 a year, making it the second worst climate offender in Asia after China. The country's industrial parks are now set to be brought into line with environmental standards - with more efficient energy usage, a switch to renewable resources and environmentally-friendly waste management systems.
