Relatively few electrical appliances can be repaired. Many parts are glued or welded, or made otherwise inaccessible. Planned obsolescence on the part of manufacturers is widespread - something the "right to repair" movement is looking to change.
France has floated the idea of slapping labels on products like electronics to tell consumers how long they will last, and how easily they can be recycled. But would such schemes actually inspire greener choices?
