Røros was a prosperous mining town for many centuries. It's also known for a children's film - Pippi Longstocking - shot here in 1969. And it’s one of Norway’s coldest places with temperatures regularly dipping below -30C.
No less than 41 sites - architectural and natural marvels - in Germany have been placed on UNESCO’s World Heritage list. Each is unique and authentic as well as popular with tourists.
