The Morgan 4/4 – A Trip in Time
A car from another era: 80 years ago, the Morgan 4/4 was born out of English tradition and assembled by hand. To celebrate its 80th anniversary a special edition of the car is being brought out.
Riding like it’s 1936
The Morgan 4/4 is celebrating its 80th birthday with a new special edition. Even today, little on the car has changed. A ride in the Roadster is an experience of British tradition at its best.
Characteristic Chassis
The open model of the Morgan 4/4 is the longest-running make of automobile. And thanks to its loyal fans, the family-owned company has been able to weather the storms of the British car manufacturing industry.
For the Love of Motoring
The Morgan 4/4 is not equipped with the modern comforts of today’s luxury sports cars, but auto enthusiasts accept its basic nature – four wheels and a four cylinder engine – and for the pure love of driving.
Cult Classic
It all began in the early 1900s with a three-wheeled, seven horse-power motorized vehicle by engineer Henry Frederick Stanley Morgan. His invention became so popular that production began in 1910 and so the Morgan Motor Company came into existence.
Thrill on Three Wheels
The three-wheeler has become a cult classic. After a 60 year hiatus, production of the vehicle began again in 2012. Now classified as a motorcycle, the three-wheeler is enjoying a popular revival, not only on the open road, but also on the racetrack.
Precision Manufacturing
The Morgan Motor Company near Birmingham assembles its vehicles by hand. It’s the only car manufacturer to produce its cars using an ash frame, a technique dating back at least a century to the production of wooden wagons.
High Quality, Low Production
The Morgan Motor Company employs 180 workers produce around 850 cars per year. Modern safety components such as ABS technology and air bags are outsourced. Everything else is done by hand, including the chassis, leather interior for the cockpit and the paint finish which involves a hand-spray system.
The Anniversary Edition
To mark the car’s 80th anniversary, only eighty, Morgan 4/4 special-edition vehicles have been produced. At a cost of €50,000 per unit, buyers will get a few extras, including steel rims to match the car’s exterior paint color or gold-painted hub caps.
