A German court has halted the clearing of thousands of trees to make room for Elon Musk's electric car factory south-east of Berlin. Green groups forced the stop, just days after the felling began.
A high court in Berlin has allowed Tesla to continue clearing a 92 hectare forest for its massive Gigafactory. The court rejected pleas from environment activists and said that its decision was final.
Environmentalist groups lost an appeal to prevent the US electric car manufacturer from felling trees in a forest in Brandenburg. Tesla began breaking ground on Thursday.
Police told media that the ordnance was defused "without any problems." Tesla is planning on building its fourth Gigafactory on the outskirts of Berlin, although some groups are concerned about its environmental impact.
