Riyadi Suparno is vice executive director of The Jakarta Post where he has been working for 15 years at various desks, mostly covering business. In 2002, he was appointed as one of the Post’s managing editors and assumed this position until 2010. Prior to joining The Jakarta Post, he worked for an oil company PT Stanvac Indonesia as a human resource staffer for two years and for Indonesian-language evening daily Surabaya Post as a reporter for one year. In 1999, he spent six months at the Chicago Tribune, as an Alfred Friendly Press fellow. Suparno has an undergraduate diploma from the Institute of Teacher Training and Education in Malang, Indonesia and a master’s degree in public economic management and finance from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.
