South Africa mourns

On August 16th, 34 miners were gunned down by police at Lonmin’s Marikana platinum mine, where they had been striking over pay and conditions. The massacre has been described as the worst police violence since Apartheid. The issue of miners rights, is, however, nothing new. In Cape Town, Linda Daniels has been trying to find out why.
